Comedian Jim Carrey has attacked Fox News, claiming the network had slandered him in its coverage of his web video ‘Cold Dead Hand’, which was released on the comedy site Funny or Die.

Carrey said he would have sued Fox News ‘if he felt they were worth his time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery’.

According to Fox News, in the video, Carrey plays a country singer on the popular 1970s show ‘Hee Haw’, and former Oscar-winner and NRA president Charlton Heston, who shoots his own foot off at the end of the video.

Taking a shot at gun enthusiasts, Carrey appeared in the skit for the sketch comedy web site "Funny or Die" satirizing Heston’s love for firearms.

Heston, who died in 2008 at the age of 84 from symptoms related to Alzheimer's disease, served as the head of the NRA from 1998-2003.

Carrey, 51, said his video was made to spotlight his ‘stand against large magazines and assault rifles’.

In the press release sent out by his publicist, Carrey called Fox News ‘Fux News’, and also labeled the number one cable news channel ‘a media Colostomy bag,’ the report added.
