Last time I met Anushka Sharma, it was during NH10 when she had claimed that the strong characters she veers towards on celluloid is an extension of her real self. "I love playing strong characters because I believe I am very strong-headed in real life as well. With no disrespect to people who does characters where they just have to stand and romance the guy, I always want to do something more substantial," she had told me back then.

Now, Anushka's acted with all the three Khans. Be it Shah Rukh Khan in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Jab Tak Hai Jaan or Aamir Khan in PK or Salman Khan in Sultan. Honestly, I felt she's outdone all the Khans in all the films she's been paired opposite them. For Sultan too, her role might have been a lot many minutes shorter than Salman's but she turned out to be the heart of the film.

Surprisingly, while most applauded Anushka for her performance as Aarfa, there were some who slammed her and called her character 'regressive'. In the film, Anushka's character who's ambitious and wants to win the Olympic gold medal suddenly decides to leave her dreams for their baby. Many argued that this plot twist went against the whole 'equality' issue that the film was boasting of.

Talking about the same, Anushka responded in the most fitting manner possible. Here's what she said.

"I very strongly feel that most people who are feeling this didn't sit through the end credits where my character goes back to doing what she does best - wrestling and training our daughter too. Everyone's entitled to their opinions and it's fine. But what few people said that it was a regressive character. That I don't agree with at all. It was in fact, progressive because she made the decision herself. It was not that Salman's character forced her or anyone else asked her to give up her career because of her pregnancy. She made that choice herself. Whether to have a child or not to have a child, it was a choice she made. She would have gone back to wrestling like she eventually does in the film. But something so big happens in their life which completely changes her world. People need to understand that as well."
