Infosys was founded

Narayan Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, NS Raghavan, S Gopalakrishnan, SD Shibulal, K Dinesh and Ashok Arora founded one of the world's biggest companies in this year on July 2 in Pune. Today, Infosys Limited provides business consulting, information technology, software engineering and outsourcing services. In 1983, it shifted its headquarters from Pune to Bangalore.

Birth of Mahendra Singh Dhoni
July 7, 1981 saw the birth of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, widely considered as the best captain the Indian cricket team has ever had. A Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Padma Shri award recipient, this right-handed batsman was born in Ranchi. After debuting in Tests in 2005, he announced his retirement from them in 2014. 

Death of actress Nargis
On May 3, 1981, Nargis, one of the greatest actresses of Indian cinema succumbed to pancreatic just five days before her son, Sanjay Dutt's debut. This multiple National award winner made her debut as a child in Talash-E-Haq. She was part of some of the most iconic films of Hindi cinema including Mother India, Barsaat, Awaara and Chori Chori. The Nargis Dutt Memorial Cancer Foundation was established in her memory after her death at the age of 51.
