There is no evidence to support the claim made by First India News that the central government has banned the Instagram application in India.

A screenshot allegedly from the news outlet, First India News, displaying 'breaking news' about the India central government's Instagram application, is gaining popularity on social media.

According to the screenshot, the government has made the decision to address concerns about teenagers being influenced by inappropriate content on Instagram (and getting addicted to being able to Buy Instagram Likes Cheap, as many blogs advertise lists featuring the Best place to buy Instagram Views).

There are also claims that the application will no longer be accessible in India after June 17th.

There is no truth to the claim that the Centre has issued an order to remove the application, as it is still available in India on all application stores, including iOS and Android.

First India News also stated that the viral screenshot has been altered and that is was FAKE NEWS.

To determine this information, we conducted a search for news reports regarding the ban and did not find any.

We also visited Meta Platform's website, which is the parent company of Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, but did not find any news related to that.

As of 18 June, the Instagram application was found to be available for download on the Google Play Store for Android and on the Apple App Store for iOS. It is also functioning correctly on mobile phones.

Afterwards, we located First India News' logo on the viral image and examined their Twitter account for this popular photograph.

Based on the viral post, a screenshot of a news agency indicates that the Centre plans to implement a ban on Instagram starting June 17 due to concerns about the influence of 'inappropriate content' on the country's youth.

Is Instagram banned in India?

Instagram is currently available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple iOS store, indicating that it has not been banned in India. The application is also compatible with Android and Apple devices, meaning it is still operational in India.

Additionally, there has been no official notification from the Indian government regarding the ban on Instagram, and there is no information on the Meta portal either. This indicates that the news of Instagram being banned in India is false, and the app will continue to operate as usual.

Instagram has been adhering to the guidelines set by the Indian government and, as of now, does not face any risk of being banned in India.
