Neetu Kapoor needs no introduction. Late superstar Rishi Kapoor's wife, Neetu Kapoor, is a megastar in her own right and was most popular throughout the late 1960s, 1970s, and early 1980s. For the unversed, Neetu Kapoor made her debut in the year 1966 with the film 'Suraj'. She then rose to prominence in the 1970s after appearing in films like 'Deewaar' opposite Amitabh Bachchan, 'Khel Khel Mein', 'Kabhi Kabhie', 'Dharam Veer', 'Amar Akbar Anthony', and 'Kaala Patthar', among others.

Neetu Kapoor was at the peak of her career when she got married to Rishi Kapoor in 1980. Neetu Kapoor, who was born in a simple household, became the daughter-in-law of Bollywood's Kapoor family. She gave birth to two children - Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor.

Neetu Kapoor was just 21 when she married Rishi Kapoor. She retired from acting after her marriage. Her last release was 'Ganga Meri Maa' which was released in 1983.

Talking about leaving Bollywood at the mere age of 20-21, Neetu Kapoor shared with Karan Johar on his talk show, “I started working when I was 5. When Do Kaliyaan came, I was so loved by everyone. I had already seen fame very early in my career, so after that working became a job for me, it was nothing that I looked forward to. From age 5 to 21 I have worked a lot, I did around 70-80 movies."

She further added, “I had worked for 15 years, so you get tired. My kids were born and I just wanted to dedicate myself to my children, and my house, and my husband was very possessive. He wanted me all the time to just be around and be there. So that’s the way my life was and I was very happy. I had such a lovely household, everybody was so full of love, and my mother-in-law was one of the best human beings ever. My father-in-law was so wonderful, we were like one happy Punjabi family and we had so much fun. My best years were when I stayed in Chembur at Deonar Cottage.”

Neetu Kapoor made a comeback in the industry with films like 'Love Aaj Kal', 'Do Dooni Chaar', and 'Besharam' but she was only seen playing supporting roles. One of the main reasons behind it was Rishi Kapoor's battle with cancer.

Neetu Kapoor finally returned to films for good and appeared in a supporting role in 'Jug Jugg Jeeyo'. She last finished shooting for the film 'Letters to Mr Khanna' which is yet to be released.

Neetu Kapoor's son Ranbir Kapoor is now a superstar and so is her daughter-in-law Alia Bhatt. She is also grandmother to Ranbir and Alia's daughter Raha.
