Varun Baranwal is an inspiration to many people. His journey from working as a cycle mechanic to support his family after his father passed away to becoming an IAS officer is not only incredible, but it also offers hope and inspiration to countless others. In the face of the many obstacles that aspirants encounter today—such as dealing with personal tragedies, financial limitations, and enduring tough times—his story of becoming an IAS officer is a testament to perseverance and determination.

Varun was raised in the isolated Maharashtran village of Boisar, where his father operated a small bicycle repair shop that provided the family's main means of subsistence. But Varun's father passed away too soon, leaving him to support his family on his own, which put additional strain on their already unstable situation.

Varun's determination to provide for his family made him consider dropping out of school to take over his father's business, but luck had other ideas when he did well in his Class X exams and his mother encouraged him to continue his education.

Financial constraints hampered Varun's educational pursuits. However, a benevolent gesture from the doctor who attended to his father's medical needs provided a ray of hope, allowing Varun to continue his education with a scholarship to MIT College in Pune, where he studied engineering with unwavering diligence.

However Varun held onto his yearnings of turning into a specialist, the extravagant expenses related to clinical instruction constrained him to change his direction. Resolute by difficulties, he directed his energies into designing, in the long run getting a sought-after position in a renowned worldwide organization.

However, Varun's difficult life experiences gave him a strong desire to work in the civil services, which motivated him to prepare for the UPSC exams. Despite the pressures of his corporate job, Varun spent his free time gathering study materials; because of his limited budget, he had to rely on NGOs for books and other resources.

Lacking the financial resources to pay for coaching from prestigious institutions, Varun was forced to rely entirely on his tenacity and the wisdom he extracted from old notes and books. His unwavering commitment to hard work paid off when he achieved an astounding All India Rank-32 in the UPSC Civil Services Exam of 2016, fulfilling his lifelong ambition to become an IAS officer and serving his country.
