Even though the Railways has started some trains to help stranded people reach their homes, lack of public transport outside the stations has forced them to either stay at the station only or walk.

Four trains were scheduled to arrive at the New Delhi railway station on Wednesday. At the time of filing this story, three trains have arrived already. However, there's no public transport for people to travel to their destinations, resulting in a huge crowd at the station.

A huge crowd has gathered and there's no sign of social distancing being followed. People have no idea how to proceed from the station, and some have decided to walk to their destinations.

Many workers arrived from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand expecting that they will be provided public transport to travel further. They are now sitting outside the station now. Two women who arrived from Ahmedabad with a lot of luggage, including television, are waiting for some relief as a private taxi operator is asking for Rs 2,000 to take them to their destinations.

While there are no official travel arrangements from the government, some private taxi operators are providing services. However, they are not outside the station and people are booking them on phones.

Only a few bicycle rickshaws are running.
