Robbers strike on board bus, rob man of valuables

According to details, Ganesh Patel, an employee of Babulal kantilal Angadia firm at Godhra, was travelling from Godhra to Vadodara in a private bus late on Wednesday evening.

Four robbers who disguised as passengers of a private bus assaulted an angadia employee on board the bus and robbed him of cash and valuables on Kalol highway in the Panchmahals district on Wednesday night. While the angadia staffer was hospitalised, the police were trying to figure out the amount of loot.

According to details, Ganesh Patel, an employee of Babulal kantilal Angadia firm at Godhra, was travelling from Godhra  to Vadodara in a private bus late on Wednesday evening. He was carrying a purse containing cash and some documents, which were to be delivered in Vadodara. Patel did not know how much money he was carrying, as it is a normal practice that money sent through angadias is kept a secret.

When the bus reached Khadki village near Kalol, four persons who were travelling in the bus started firing and beat up Patel. As bus driver Vijay Patelia looked back after hearing the gunshot, he was asked by the robbers to stop the bus in the middle of the road. No sooner the bus stopped than the four men snatched the purse from Patel and fled in the cover of darkness.

The Kalol police rushed to the spot and initiated investigation. The injured Patel and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Panchmahals DSP JR Mothalia said, "The angadia employee received injury due to bullets fired by the robbers. We are trying to ascertain the exact amount robbed from him.''
