Taste Atlas, an experiential travel online guide, has recently unveiled its list of the "10 Best Chicken Soups" from around the world, celebrating this beloved comfort food that transcends borders and cultures. Chicken soup is renowned for its ability to provide solace, warmth, and nourishment, making it a universal favorite, especially during times of illness. Each country has its own unique take on this comforting dish, contributing to the rich tapestry of global cuisine.

Topping the list as the number one chicken soup in the world is Tom kha gai, Thailand's cherished national dish hailing from the northern region. It stands out as the sole representative from Asia on this prestigious list. Tom kha gai is a delectable concoction featuring coconut milk, tender chicken pieces, galangal (a pinkish-brown rhizome related to ginger), lemongrass, garlic, fiery bird's eye chili peppers, fragrant kaffir lime leaves, fish sauce, and shiitake mushrooms. This Thai gem is not only a culinary delight but also boasts exceptional nutritional value and medicinal properties, making it an ideal choice for soothing the gastrointestinal tract.

In second and third place are Ciorba Radauteana, a traditional Romanian soup, and Zeama, a beloved Moldovan soup often dubbed the "ultimate hangover cure." Ciorba Radauteana is renowned for its healing properties and is frequently relied upon as a remedy for common cold symptoms. It boasts a tantalizing blend of chicken, onions, sweet red pepper, celery, carrots, lemon juice, garlic, parsley, and sour cream. On the other hand, Zeama is crafted from homemade chicken broth, featuring a smaller whole chicken, water, delicate homemade egg noodles (tăiței de casă), and an array of finely chopped vegetables and herbs.

Romania makes another appearance on the list with Supă (de pui) cu tăieței, claiming the fifth spot. This clear soup is a classic winter dish, typically comprising chicken stock, noodles, and vegetables, notably carrots. In many Romanian households, it holds a special place as a Sunday tradition, served for lunch or dinner. As a comforting and nourishing meal, it is enjoyed piping hot, garnished with chopped parsley and a dash of ground black pepper.
