Home buyers will soon be able to apply for CIDCO's affordable homes lottery in Navi Mumbai through an app dedicated for the same. Increasing demand in the last week after the lottery for over 14,800 homes was introduced has prompted the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) to make the provision available through the application. The online registration began on August 15.

The nodal agency will conduct the entire process — ranging from registration to form submission and allotment of homes — online and on the new app, trials of which are ongoing.

Of the total 14,838 houses, 5,262 are for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) while remaining 9,576 are for the Lower Income Group (LIG) category. The housing projects will come up in eleven locations in the five nodes namely Taloja, Kalamboli, Kharghar, Ghansoli and Dronagiri in Navi Mumbai.

In the last seven days, since the registration began, according to officials, over 35,000 registrations have taken place while more than 10,000 applications have been submitted.

Mohan Ninawe, the spokesperson for CIDCO, said, "We are planning to come up with a mobile-based app, where people need not go to a cyber cafe for making an application and instead they use the app can complete all the formalities. This even includes payments to be made. We are carrying out trial runs right now."

The EWS applicants will be eligible for a subsidy of Rs 2.5 lakhs under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yoajna whereas the LIG applicants will be eligible for a subsidy of Rs 2.67 lakhs under the CLSS. The computerised lottery draw for this housing scheme is proposed to be held on October 2, 2018.

Applicants applying under the EWS category will have to pay a deposit of Rs 5,000 and an addition of Rs 280 as application fee while under the LIG category, interested buyers will have to pay a deposit of Rs 25,000 and an addition of Rs 280 for the application fee.

EWS category will get a carpet area of 25.81 sq mt while LIG will have a carpet area of 29.82 sq mt. This is the first time in the history of any housing scheme in the state that an app will be used.
