Pune's Symbiosis Centre of Health Care to hold Hruday Mahotsav

Pune-based Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC) will organise Hruday Mahotsav, a one-day preventive health check-up programme especially for cardiovascular diseases, aimed at creating awareness and preventing heart ailments.

The centre director, Dr Rajeev Yeravdekar, said, "According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the world's largest killers, claiming 17.1 million lives a year. They contribute to 29.2% of total global deaths. This event will help in promoting health education among public."

The event, to be held between 10am and 5pm on Friday, will also have an exhibition where normal anatomy and physiology of the heart, including live specimens, will be displayed.

A discussion on facts and figures and common myths and misconceptions related to heart ailments too will take place.
Speakers like Dr Sanjay Gandhi, Dr Abhay Mane and Dr Shailaja Kale will talk on cardiac health and diabetes whereas diet for heart will be discussed by Ruha Arjunwadkar and Dr Suhas Hardas. Other topics that will be discussed include cardiac rehabilitation, heart wellness and yoga for heart by yoga expert Nitin Unkule.
