The police have arrested two men on the charge of raping a 14-year-old girl after offering her a spiked drink. The complainant and the accused are from the same neighbourhood in Kandivali West, said the police.

According to the police, the girl went missing last Saturday. While her parents approached the police, prompting a search, she returned after two days. "The parents then found that the duo had asked her to accompany them for an outing."

In her complaint, the girl said that she was taken on a two-wheeler to Marve in Malad where the accused offered her an intoxicant. "After she lost consciousness, she was raped," said an officer from Kandivali police station. The men then dropped her home.

The police arrested the two after the girl, a school student, recorded her statement and underwent a medical examination. The accused have been booked under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).

"One of the accused has been booked for theft in the past. Both men are unemployed," said a senior officer.
