England win by 10 runs, but Sri Lanka did spectacularly well to come back from 15/4, with Angelo Mathews playing a terrific knock of 73 not out. They finish on 161/8 after 20 overs, but have been knocked out of the tournament. Along with them, South Africa also exit. England make it to the semifinals joining the West Indies. There will be a new Twenty20 champion on April 3.

10:56 PM

Over 20

Ben Stokes to bowl the last over. 15 needed. Can Angelo Mathews pull off this miracle for SL? Remember they were 15/4.

Ball 1: Full toss outside off, Mathews hits it straight to cover, and he won't run. 15 off 5 balls.

Ball 2: Dug out into the on side, and Mathews runs a  very difficult second. The throw from David Willey was wide else Mathews was in trouble.

Ball 3: Mathews moves across and tries a scoop over short fine leg, the fielder jumps but drops the catch. Fine leg stops the boundary and SL get two. 11 needed off 3.

Ball 4: BRILLIANT YORKER on middle stump. Mathews can do nothing about it, and won't take the available. 11 off 2.

Ball 5: Slightly full, slogged to deep midwicket, Mathews comes back for two but now SL need an impossible 9 off 1 ball.

Ball 6: Very full again, on off stump, Angelo Mathews slogs it into the leg side. No run, and SL have lost the game. SL 161/8 after 20 overs.

10:50 PM

Over 19

Ball 2: Yorker from Jordan just outside off, but Dasun plays it cleverly down to third man for four. Brilliant shot, great timing and placement.

OUT. Fullish outside off, Dasun goes for the booming shot over extra cover, but mid off dives spectacularly to his left to take a stunner. 17 needed off 9 now.

Dasun Shanaka made 15 off 9. A valuable contribution.

Ball 5: Wide outside off, smacked into the deep for one. 15 needed off 7 balls.

OUT! Perfect yorker from Chris Jordan, hits the base of middle stump as Herath looks to back away and hit through the off side. SL need 15 off the last over.

10:42 PM

Over 18

Just two off the first 3 balls.

SIX. This time Willey bowls full and in the slot, Dasun frees his arms and goes straight down the ground, very high, but far enough to cross the boundary.

Ball 5: Dot ball, Dasun moves across and tries to flick the ball fine, misses and the ball passes between him and the stumps to the keeper.

FOUR. Short and sits up to be hit, Dasun pulls to perfection, into the deep midwicket fence for four.

SL 150/6 after 18 overs, 22 needed off 2 overs.

10:36 PM

Over 17

Chris Jordan is back.

FOUR. Short and on the hips, Perera pulls it away to fine leg for four.

OUT. Just when you thought SL are taking this home, a wicket falls. Perera sees the half volley and tries to go over mid off but doesn't get elevation. Simple catch at mid off, SL 137/6. Perera made 20 off 11 balls.

Ball 5: Fast yorker outside off stump, right on the white line. No run. 35 needed from 19 balls.

Ball 6: Single off the last ball. Good over for England. 34 needed from 18 balls.

10:30 PM

Over 16

SIX.

SIX. Angelo Mathews is on fire. Mooen Ali is getting hammered. Consecutive full balls, and consecutive slogs for six. The ground is small so the ball also ends up way back in the stands.

Ball 3: Now a quick single, the crowd is coming back into the game. 47 needed off 27 balls. This is anyone's game now.

Ball 4: Full toss, Mathews whips it to deep square leg and is then disappointed he didn't get more than a single off that over.

SIX. Perera now into the act. The pitch is not offering much turn. Perera charges down, takes the ball on the full and smashes it back down the ground for six.

21 runs off the over. SL need 40 off 24.

10:28 PM

Over 15

Just 5 runs off the 15th over. SL 111/5 after 15 overs.

Angelo Mathews reaches his fifty off the last ball of that over. 50 off 40 balls. It's been a desperate effort, but now he needs to finish the game, and it's not easy. 61 needed from 30 balls.

10:22 PM

Over 14

SIX. The wicket won't stop the new batsman. Perera lifts Moeen Ali over deep midwicket, way back into the stands for six.

SL 106/5 after 14 overs, 66 needed off 6 overs.

10:20 PM

Over 13

FOUR. Almost a six. A superb pick-up off middle stump, just wide of fine leg for four.

OUT! Kapugedera goes for another big hit, skied very high, but this time it comes down at deep midwicket and Ben Stokes takes a good catch.

SL 95/5 after 13 overs.

10:11 PM

Over 12

SIX. Adil Rashid has disappeared again. Full on middle and leg, Mathews takes on step down and hammers it over long on for six.

SIX. Now Kapugedera. Rashid continues to bowl full and get smashed. This time Kapugedera gave himself a little room and hammered it over deep extra cover for six.

SIX. Down the track, and lifted over long on for six. Big over for SL, 21 runs come off it. SL 88/4 after 12 overs.

The balance of this match has changed slightly after that over. SL still need 84 off 8 overs but they are now in this game.

10:06 PM

Over 11

FOUR. Short outside off, sits up and Mathews thrashes it for four with a vicious pull.

DROPPED. Captain Morgan drops a catch. Mathews drives on the up, just wide of Morgan whose despairing dive is not enough to hold on to the catch.

The crowd has gone completely silent ever since SL were reduced to 15/4.

SL 67/4 after 11 overs. This over also brought up the 50 run stand.

10:03 PM

Over 10

Adil Rashid comes on.

Fullish ball on off stump, Mathews goes downtown and then high up, he's hit this ball extremely high but also very long. It lands at the top of the second tier, straight as an arrow down the ground.

Ball 5: Pulled hard but only a single to deep midwicket.

Ball 6: Single to end the over. SL 59/4 at the half way mark.

09:58 PM

Over 9

Three runs off the first four balls of the 9th over. Sri Lanka still playing the waiting game. The required run rate is close to 11 an over now.

SL 49/4 after 9 overs.

09:57 PM

Over 8

FOUR. A boundary off the last ball brings eight runs off the over. Sri Lanka 46/4.

A small partnership has built between these two - 31 runs off 30 balls.

09:49 PM

Over 7

Ben Stokes comes into the attack.

Sri Lanka should ideally look to build a stand till about 10 overs. Then, if they need 110-odd off the last 10 overs, maybe they can have a go. It is going to be a very uphill task for Kapugedera and Mathews from here on.

Just four off the over, Sri Lanka 38/4 after 7 overs.

09:46 PM

Over 6

Sri Lanka now have to rebuild their innings while keeping an eye on the required rate. This is the last over of the Powerplay.

6 off the over, SL 34/4 after 6 overs.

138 needed to win off 14 overs at nearly 10 runs per over.

09:42 PM

Over 5

FOUR. Angelo Mathews gets a boundary off a big inside edge. He was driving away from his body, without foot movement, but since the ball was quite wide of off stump, the inside edge didn't go onto the stumps.

FOUR. Now that's a proper shot. Length on middle, Angelo tucks it away fine through long leg for four.

Sri Lanka 28/4 after 5 overs.

09:36 PM

Over 4

Sri Lanka have had a horrendous start, and there seems to be no plan either. Sri Lanka are going down quickly. England have a vice grip now on this match and it will take something miraculous from Mathews or the rest to get SL over the line.

SL 17/4 after 4 overs.

09:34 PM

Over 3

Ball 1: Full on the legs, Thirimanne goes for the flick to fine leg, can't keep the ball down. It loops up and lands just short of a diving short fine leg.

Ball 4: SIX. Short and easy paced, Siriwardene rocks back and slams it for six over wide long on.

OUT. That's the end of the fun. Just one big hit and done. Siriwardana gives himself room, the ball is slightly full, he tries to carve it over extra cover but the fielder jumps to take it with both hands. Sri Lanka sinking, 15/3.

OUT. Bad mix up between Angelo Mathews and Lahiru Thirimanne results in the latter being run out off a superb direct hit. Run out for 3. Sri Lanka 15/4 after 3 overs.

09:27 PM

Over 2

OUT! Dinesh Chandimal out to a soft dismissal. Shortish outside off, Chandimal looks to run it fine despite the presence of slip. Nevertheless, he gets only a thin edge that is taken by the keeper itself. Stupid way to get out at this stage. Sri Lanka are going down. 4/2.

Thirimanne has come out to the middle. He should have come in at the fall of the first wicket. The Siriwardana gamble has been busted.

SL 8/2 after 2 overs.

09:19 PM

Over 1

David Willey opens the bowling

OUT! Dilshan has fallen in the first over. His eyes must have lit up at the length ball, he tries to go over deep midwicket for maximum, but holes out. Dilshan out for 2, SL 3/1.

Siriwardena is the new batsman.

SL 3/1 after 1 over.

09:01 PM

England have finished on a strong total of 171/4. This total was built around Jos Buttler's 66 off 37 balls. Sri Lanka had the game even stevens at around 15 overs, with England at 99/3. But 72 runs came off the last five overs, and now this is England's game to lose. Sri Lanka seem to have one foot in the exit door in this tournament.

08:57 PM

Over 20

Thisara Perera to bowl.

Brilliant yorker first ball, smashes Eoin Morgan on the foot, but England run a single.

OUT. Eoin Morgan is run out at the non-striker's end. Buttler hit straight back to Perera but Morgan was already half way down the pitch. Perera throws the ball at the stumps and hits.

Ball 3: Low full toss, slogged to deep midwicket for two.

Ball 4: Yorker on the line just outside off, Buttler can't get bat to it.

Ball 5: Another yorker, Buttler tries to scoop it out, gets an inside edge and they are content with a single.

Ball 6: SIX! 5 balls for just 4 runs, but now Perera misses the yorker, gets a full toss outside off which Ben Stokes slams over wide long for six. The deep midwicket fielder runs hard and tries to get a hand to it in the end but fails.

England finish on 171/4 after 20 overs.

08:51 PM

Over 19

Dushmantha Chameera to bowl

Ball 3: Wide yorker, this is the only way to stop Buttler in this mood. He gets a single to deep point.

Ball 4: Great bouncer to Eoin Morgan, he hooks late and is fortunate that the ball falls into no man's land for one.

Ball 5: Dropped. Half volley outside off, Buttler tries to take the cover off the ball, hits straight back at Chameera. The ball came back very hard at him and hit him on the right hand before he had any time to react.
