There are various schools and colleges in our country. Among them, there are also religious educational institutions, such as madrasas. They provide religious education and promote religious teachings, alongside teaching other subjects.

Educational institutions in India operate under government supervision. The education department sets the rules and regulations for children's education, which include subjects taught, holidays, and more. However, some madrasas do not follow certain rules, such as the designated weekly holiday.

A report from Madhya Pradesh has highlighted this issue. It was found that most madrasas in Madhya Pradesh have a holiday on Fridays, while classes are conducted on Sundays. According to education department rules, all educational institutions should have a holiday on Sundays. However, this rule is not being followed by these madrasas.

When we spoke to some madrasa administrators, they stated that Friday is given importance for special prayers (Juma Namaz) in Islam, hence the holiday on this day. They also indicated that they will not follow the education department's rule, emphasising that the holiday should be on Friday.
