In a thrilling showdown at Wimbledon 2024, defending champion Carlos Alcaraz emerged victorious over Daniil Medvedev in the men's singles semifinal. Alcaraz showcased his resilience and skill, overcoming a tough start to secure a hard-fought 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 victory over the formidable Russian opponent.

Despite a shaky beginning that saw him drop the first set to Medvedev, Alcaraz dug deep and found his rhythm to dominate the next three sets. Currently ranked as the World No. 3, the Spanish powerhouse is now poised to defend his Wimbledon title in the upcoming title-decider on Sunday.

Alcaraz has achieved a significant milestone by advancing to the final. He has etched his name in the history books as the youngest player to secure ATP top five wins on all three court surfaces - grass, clay, and hard courts - in consecutive seasons (2023-24), since the inception of the ATP rankings in 1973.

In the upcoming final, Alcaraz will go head-to-head with either the seven-time champion Novak Djokovic or Lorenzo Musetti in a bid for the title on Sunday.

During the semi-final match, Alcaraz showcased his resilience by overcoming two breaks in the first set by Medvedev. The intensity of the match led to a moment of frustration for Medvedev, resulting in a warning for unsportsmanlike conduct from umpire Eva Asderaki. Despite the incident, Medvedev managed to clinch the first set with impressive precision, committing only eight unforced errors compared to Alcaraz's 15.

Alcaraz, however, refused to be deterred and mounted a strong comeback by breaking Medvedev to take a 3-1 lead in the second set. His exceptional performance was highlighted by a 27-shot rally that ended in his favor. In the third set, Alcaraz continued to dominate, hitting 14 winners and securing the crucial break in the third game.

This victory marks the third time in this year's Wimbledon that Alcaraz has rallied back after dropping the first set.
