The Football Association (FA) has rebuffed suggestions that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is in contention for the England manager's job, due to his strained relationship with the Madrid hierarchy.

The FA has made it clear that their preferred choice for taking over as England's next boss will be an indigenous English manager, which clearly indicates that Harry Redknapp is their sole target to replace Fabio Capello.

FA general secretary Alex Horne said that an English manager is the favored direction.

"English would be very, very preferable. It is key we have someone with strong English communication skills who has experience of managing English players," The Sun quoted Horne, as saying.

The 'Special One' Mourinho was pictured house-hunting in London last week, which fueled speculation that he might be here to look for a new job, but he is clearly out of the race for the England job for now.
