A devastating earthquake in Morocco, claiming at least 296 lives, has raised eyebrows on social media. Amid the tragic event, a man was spotted nonchalantly carrying his PS5 out of his house, triggering a fuss about priorities.

The US Geological Survey said that the earthquake occurred on Friday night at 11:11 pm local time, with an epicenter 44 miles southwest of Marrakesh and a depth of 18.5 kilometers. Buildings shook fiercely, bringing occupants into a panic, according to witnesses who detailed the horrifying experience. Children cried, and parents were left distraught as power and communication networks briefly failed, forcing people to seek refuge outdoors.

The earthquake's impact extended to coastal cities like Rabat, Casablanca, and Essaouira, causing more panic than significant structural damage. However, the USGS issued an orange alert, indicating the likelihood of considerable economic losses, while a yellow alert hinted at potential casualties.

The region's susceptibility to earthquakes exacerbated the danger. Marrakesh also experienced disruptions in internet connectivity due to power outages, further contributing to the chaos.

This earthquake, felt in neighboring Algeria, is considered one of the most powerful to strike Morocco. The country has a history of devastating earthquakes, with the 2004 Al Hoceima quake claiming hundreds of lives and the 1980 El Asnam earthquake in Algeria ranking among the largest and most destructive in recent history, resulting in massive casualties and displacements.
