Microsoft Windows faces outage in India, across the world, what does this mean?

A major technical glitch has impacted millions of Windows computer systems globally, leading to abrupt shutdowns or restarts. Microsoft Inc. attributed the issue to a recent update from CrowdStrike.

In its Service Health Status updates, Microsoft stated that the initial root cause was "a configuration change in a segment of our Azure backend workloads. This change disrupted the connection between storage and compute resources, leading to connectivity failures..."

These disruptions, according to the company, have affected "downstream and dependent Microsoft 365 services."
