In one of the first decisions taken after assuming power in the state, the Maharashtra government today said it has made a provision of Rs600 crore to improve power supply in the state.
    
"The government has sanctioned Rs600 crore out of Rs8750 crore required for making the state load-shedding free till 2012," an official from CMO said today after the cabinet meeting.
     
The government is planning to set up 565 sub-centres, install 72,370 distribution tranformers and put up 57,540 km long power distribution line, the official said.
     
Currently, the demand for power in the state is around 15,000 MW while supply is only about 11,000 MW resulting in a deficit of about 4,000 MW.
