Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Coolie No 1' is set to release during the Christmas weekend on Amazon Prime Video.
Govinda celebrates his birthday on December 21 and has turned 57 this year. The actor born Govind Arun Ahuja got a special birthday wish from Varun Dhawan today who is going to reprise his role in 'Coolie No 1' remake.
Taking to his Instagram stories, Varun shared a rare throwback photo of Govinda and David Dhawan and wrote, "Happy birthday to the OG Coolie No 1."

Recently, there were rumours that Varun along with dad David Dhawan will take the No 1 franchise forward, however, the Badlapur actor denied this news and had told Mumbai Mirror, "No, the No 1 franchise will always be known for the Govinda-David Dhawan-Karisma Kapoor trio. This is a one-off film, we don’t intend to spin it into a franchise. But we will continue making comedies. It's a genre that needs to be kept alive, everyone needs a two-hour laughter break with their families. Even doctors advise you to laugh."
In other news, the makers of Coolie No 1 on the occasion of Govinda's birthday today released 'Mirchi Lagi Toh' song that originally starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.
While talking about recreating the iconic songs in new Coolie No 1, filmmaker David Dhawan stated, "Songs from the original Coolie No. 1 are hugely popular and timeless, according to me these tracks also helped the film. I was always clear that if I ever made this film again, I would use these blockbuster songs. The songs from the original were created by music directors Anand Milind and written by lyricist Sameer, who is close to me. We have done a lot of work together, by including these songs in the new Coolie No.1 it was my way to pay back."
