Asha Parekh is regarded as one of Bollywood’s finest actresses, who has worked in over 85 films. In a recent conversation with Arbaaz Khan, the actress opened up about the marriage rumours with Shammi Kapoor and her strained bond with Shatrughan Sinha. 

The actor recalled her career in an episode of The Invincibles Series Season 2. The promo of the episode was released on Monday, which teased a rollercoaster ride of emotions and several revelations. In the teaser, Asha Parekh was seen talking about the time when ‘actresses enjoyed alcohol’ and recalled an incident when ‘her eyes were so red that she had refused to shoot the next day’. The actress was then asked about the marriage rumours with Shammi Kapoor and quipped, “Yes, we were married.”

In the teaser, she also reflected on her strained bond with Shatrughan, saying, “It was like let’s do just like the way I want. And then he gave some statements in the press, which were very derogatory to him, not to me." Not only this, the actress recalled how Guru Dutt called her mother and told her that he doesn’t think she can be a heroine.

The actress who has given several hits and blockbusters stopped acting in films after the 1981 film Kaalia and became a television director with the Gujarati serial Jyoti. In the teaser of the show, she is also seen talking about this break revealing that coming back to acting was not a smooth sail. “It did impact me,” however, she refused to delve deeper. 

Asha Parekh started her career as a child artist with Maa. Later, she made her lead debut with Dil Deke Dekho in 1959 and went on to establish herself as a leading actress in the 1960s and 1970s with films including — Jab Pyar Kisi Se Hota Hai, Bharosa, Ziddi, Mere Sanam, Teesri Manzil, Love in Tokyo, Do Badan, Aaye Din Bahar Ke and more.
