Gadar 2 has broken virtually all records at the box office, acing the Monday test like no other Hindi film has ever done before. The Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel-starrer had opened to great numbers, amassing close to Rs 140 crore in its first weekend. The Monday collections were always going to be crucial for the film’s longevity but now it seems the film has not just passed the important Monday test but obliterated all obstacles.

Gadar 2 has registered a nominal drop of only 30% on Monday, unheard of for such a big film. The film earned a massive Rs 39 crore net in India on Monday, much higher than any Hindi film previously. In comparison, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan – the highest-grossing Hindi film in India – had earned Rs 27 crore on its first Monday just six months ago. With this, Gadar 2 has taken its four-day earnings in India to over Rs 170 crore and worldwide gross to over Rs 200 crore.

Given that Tuesday is a national holiday for Independence Day, Gadar 2 will again see a rise. Due to its patriotic theme and the ongoing trend, it would not be a surprise if the film managed to see a huge jump and aim for another 50-crore day. Only Pathaan has done multiple Rs 50-crore days among Hindi films till now. Gadar 2 aims to emulate that almost unimaginable feat soon.

Trade insiders have now revised their projections for Gadar 2 with many hopeful that the film should cross Rs 300 crore net in India and possibly Rs 400 crore gross worldwide easily. In fact, if the momentum stays like this for another week, sky is the limit for the Anil Sharma-starrer.

With its Monday earnings, Gadar 2 has overtaken the lifetime collections of Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, becoming the fifth-highest grossing Bollywood film of 2023. It is now only behind Pathaan (Rs 1050 crore), Adipurush (Rs 346 crore), The Kerala Story (Rs 303 crore), and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 280 crore and counting).
