A day after Diwali celebrations, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor’s wife Mira Rajput Kapoor on Instagram expressed her concern over Delhi’s poor AQI.
The Delhi air quality index, which stood 382 at 4 pm on Thursday, entered a severe zone as people continued to burst firecrackers despite a ban on it because of poor air quality, on Diwali. The capital city is now covered by dense and toxic clouds. Worrying about the same, Mira Rajput on Friday expressed her disappointment on social media.
A day after Diwali celebrations, Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor’s wife Mira Rajput Kapoor, who was born and raised in Delhi, took to Instagram and expressed her concern over Delhi’s poor air quality index. She shared a news article, which talked about air pollution in Delhi after Diwali, as her Instagram story. While sharing the article, she wrote, “Seriously why? Who is even bursting these crackers? Please stop.” In her next Instagram story, she wrote, “This can’t be my home…Please let’s do our bit. Don’t burn crackers, segregate your waste (whatever isn’t gets burnt) and support groups that are creating awareness about the stubble burning.”
According to ANI's report, the Air Quality Index of Delhi continues to remain in the ‘severe’ category, informed the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research on Saturday. As per SAFAR’s analysis at 6 am today, Delhi’s overall air quality was found to be in the ‘severe’ category with the overall AQI standing at 533. Earlier on Friday, the overall air quality of Delhi was plunged into the upper end of the very poor category, SAFAR informed. “Relief is expected only from the evening of November 7 but AQI will fluctuate within the Very Poor range,” it said.
Dr. Randeep Guleria, AIIMS Director said, “Pollution has a huge effect on respiratory health especially on ppl with lung diseases, asthma as their disease worsens. Pollution can also lead to more severe cases of Covid.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Ashok Seth, chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute on Friday said, “These are really dangerous levels. AQI (Air Quality Index) levels are especially dangerous for the elderly and those with lung problems and heart disease. Pollution itself leads to chest congestion and bronchospasm. Those with Asthma, bronchitis will start getting worse.” (With inputs from ANI)
