Directed by Shankar and headlined by Kamal Haasan, Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 action thriller Indian. The much-awaited sequel releases in cinemas on July 12.
The makers of Indian 2 or Hindustani 2 unveiled the trailer of the much-awaited action film on Tuesday, June 25. Kamal Haasan returns as the vigilante Senapathy in the sequel as he leads the second war of independence against the corrupt system. The superstar, also known as Ulaga Nayagan among his fans, is seen in different looks in the trailer.
As soon as the trailer was dropped, fans shared their excitement on social media. While one of them predicted that the Kamal Haasan-starrer will break box office records with his comment, "Rs 1000 crore confirmed", another wrote, "The reason why Kamal Haasan is the best actor in the world. No replacement for him in Indian cinema."
Apart from Kamal Haasan, the much-awaited sequel also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Gulshan Grover, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Guru Somasundaram, and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles. While A. R. Rahman provided music for the first part, Anirudh Ravichander has composed music now. Indian 2 is directed by Shankar Shanmugham, who also helmed the first part. The film releases in cinemas on July 12.
Indian 2: Zero Tolerance is the sequel of the vigilante action thriller film Indian released in 1996 which featured Kamal Haasan in a dual role and two Bollywood actresses Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar as the leading ladies. The film was dubbed in Hindi as Hindustani and won three National Awards including one for Kamal himself for the Best Actor. Indian was also India's official entry for the Best Foreign Language Film for the 69th Academy Awards, but failed to get nominated.
