The nominations for International Emmys Awards are out and Indian actors Jim Sarbh, Shefali Shah and Vir Das have been nominated in their respective categories.
The International Emmy Awards 2023 has announced its list of nominees. With 56 contenders from 20 countries competing for honours in 14 categories, among them are three Indian actors Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh, and Vir Das.
Shefali Shah has been nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress category for her performance in the series Delhi Crime 2. For this honour, Shefali is competing with Connie Nielsen from Denmark, Billie Piper from the UK, and Karla Souza from Mexico.
Jim Sarbh has bagged a nomination for Best Performance by an Actor for his performance as Dr J Homi Bhabha in the series Rocket Boys 2. For this accolade, Jim is running with Gustavo Bassani from Argentina, Martin Freeman from the UK, and Jonas Karlsson from Sweden.
Actor, and stand-up comedian, Vir Das has been nominated for his Netflix comedy special Vir Das: Landing. Vir will be sharing the category with Le Flambeau from France, El Encargado from Argentina, and Derry Girls Season 3 from the UK.
Jim expressed his excitement about receiving an Emmy nomination. In a statement, Jim said, "I am overwhelmed and excited to be nominated in the Best Actor category at the International Emmy Awards for my portrayal of Dr Homi Bhabha in Rocket Boys. It is an honour to be recognised amongst such talented individuals from across the world. This nomination is a testament to the hard-working, dedicated, and extremely talented cast and crew, who brought the incredible story of Dr Sarabhai and Dr Bhabha to life. I loved working on 'Rocket Boys', a project that salutes India’s scientists, artists, and leaders, the pioneers of a newly birthed nation."
Producer Ekta Kapoor will also receive the International Emmy Directorate Award. The 51st International Emmy Awards Gala is to take place on November 20, 2023, in New York City.
