Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, turned 62 on June 24. Raised in a middle-class household, Gautam Adani developed the Adani Group from the ground up and now runs a multi-billion dollar company both domestically and internationally. By overcoming obstacles, he has elevated the Adani Group to the status of a rival to the biggest conglomerates in the nation, Reliance and Tata. One term for Gautam Adani is "self-made millionaire." At the tender age of twenty, he attained this honour. People have found encouragement in the success tale written by a youngster who dropped out of college. The estimated net worth of Gautam Adani is $85.5 billion.

On June 24, 1962, in Ahmedabad, Gautam Adani was born into a Gujarati Jain family. In order to grow their textile company, his mother Shantaben Adani and father Shantilal Adani moved from Tharad town to Ahmedabad. But Gautam Adani had no desire to work in the textile industry. He travelled to Mumbai in order to transact diamonds. Here, he began working with Mahindra Brothers as a diamond sorter. Then he opened his shop as a diamond trader. He gained notoriety for closing a Rs 6,000 crore deal in less than a day. After thereafter, the Adani Group grew steadily into a large conglomerate with ten listed businesses spanning from FMCG to ports.

In Mumbai on 26/11, Gautam Adani was having dinner at the Taj Hotel when there was a terrorist assault. He hid in the basement and save his life. He was also abducted in 1998 with a 1.5 million dollar ransom demand. Following this, the Adani Group also suffered greatly from the Hindenburg report that was released last year. Gautam Adani, however, has just regained his position as Asia's richest person after rebounding from that setback in just a single year.

He declared a contribution to the Adani Foundation of Rs 60,000 crore on his 60th birthday. Priti Adani, his spouse, is the chairperson of the Adani Foundation. Gautam Adani frequently attributes Priti Adani's success to her. Now, his sons Jeet and Karan Adani assist their father in his company.
