Some people overcome all adversities in life and learn from them and eventually script their success stories. One such motivational success story is of Biraja Rout, founder of Biggies Burger.

Beginning with merely Rs 20K, Biraja Rout introduced authentic grilled burgers to Indian market by starting a QSR company worth over Rs 200 Crore.

Rout had just shifted to Bangalore and was working as an IT professional when he ate a burger for the first time at 21, and that ignited a spark within him. He then noticed that there is no Indian home-grown brand popular for its burgers, and only foreign brands like McDonald’s and KFC ruled the burger market.

Subsequently, he dreamt of establishing his restaurant chain, Biggies Burger, and quit his Infosys job and started his new business.

“The idea behind Biggies Burger was to launch authentic grilled burgers in India and create a homegrown QSR brand that resonates with the local palate. We wanted to offer a unique dining experience where customers could enjoy flavorful and delicious burgers that capture the essence of India,” Rout said in an interview.

The techie-turned-foodpreneur began learning how to make burgers through YouTube tutorials. With just Rs 20,000 investment, he founded a small kiosk in Bengaluru where he sold burgers near the Infosys office. It then became famous and turned into a proper shop.

With utmost dedication and passion, Biggies Burger expanded across numerous cities and states and is now India’s largest and most renowned homegrown burger brand with a revenue of Rs 100 crore in 2023. Biraja’s next aim is to establish Biggies Burger in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and turn it into a Rs 500 crore revenue company.

Presently, Biggies Burger has established 130 stores in 28 cities and 14 states and has sold over 50 lakh burgers.

It has become India’s largest and fastest-growing homegrown burger chain and they also raised a funding round at a staggering ₹210Cr valuation.
