Axar Patel has been a standout performer in the T20 World Cup 2024, showcasing his exceptional skills both with the ball and the bat. In the final against South Africa, Axar once again proved his worth by coming to India's rescue when they were struggling at 34/3. Alongside Virat Kohli, Axar stabilized the innings with a brilliant partnership, eventually scoring 47 runs before getting run-out due to a mix-up.

Throughout the tournament, Axar has garnered attention for his significant contributions to India's success. In the semifinal against England, he played a crucial role in providing a solid start for Team India, setting the stage for Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah to finish off the lower order.

Axar's exceptional performance earned him the Player of the Match award for his impressive bowling figures of 3/23. Additionally, his late cameo with the bat, scoring 10 off six balls, proved to be vital in helping India surpass the 170-run mark. Axar Patel's consistent performances have solidified his reputation as a key player in India's T20 World Cup campaign.

Originally from Gujarat, Axar Patel is a talented left-arm orthodox spinner who made his debut in first-class cricket at the young age of 18 for Gujarat in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Mumbai. Following his debut, he went on to make his Ranji Trophy debut in November 2012. However, it was during the 2013/14 season that he truly showcased his skills, claiming 29 wickets and demonstrating his batting prowess.

Axar gained recognition when he was selected by the Mumbai Indians for the sixth edition of the IPL. Despite limited playing opportunities, he was later signed by Kings XI Punjab for the subsequent season, where he excelled and established himself as a promising young talent for the franchise.

Axar has been a part of the Indian squads that emerged victorious in the 2018 and 2023 Asia Cups. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh on 15 June 2014 and was also included in India’s 15-man squad for the 2015 Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Patel's Test debut for India took place on 13 February 2021 against England, during which he impressively claimed 7 wickets. Notably, he became the ninth Indian bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul on his Test debut, highlighting his ability to consistently take wickets in Test cricket.
