India, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, secured the trophy on a thrilling Saturday night in Bridgetown, Barbados by defeating South Africa by seven runs, ending an 11-year wait for an ICC title. The Indian team set a formidable target with a score of 176/7 in their 20 overs, thanks to significant contributions from key batsmen. South Africa, despite a strong start, ended their chase at 169/8, falling just seven runs short. The final moments of the match were particularly tense, but India's bowlers held their nerve to seal the victory.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan on Sunday wished “Team India” for clinching the title. Quoting the team as “World Champion”, Amitabh Bachchan in a social media post on X wrote, “T 5057 – Tears flowing down .. in unison with those that TEAM INDIA sheds .. WORLD CHAMPIONS INDIA. Long live Mother India. Jai Hind Jai Hind Jai Hind.”

Ranveer Singh summarised the World Cup journey and wrote a heartfelt note on team India's win. He wrote, "How fortunate we are to have witnessed this glorious moment in our nation's history! The boys have done it! World champions!!! We fought like warriors and took what was rightly ours!"

Authors Rachana Shah & Rhythm Wagholikar praised the team and said, "Elated by this monumental win after the T20 World Cup, the pride we feel for our players is immense. Their dedication and hard work have truly paid off. This victory not only marks a significant milestone for Indian cricket but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring cricketers across the nation."

Former CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Nooyi took to LinkedIn and expressed her emotions, "It was emotional. It was a proud moment for all of us who grew up in India and love his game. I can’t stop watching the highlight reel of this incredible match between the two unbeaten teams."

Former Governor of RBI & Economist, Raghuram Rajan expressed his joy and stated, "What a game! What a team! What a victory!"

MS Dhoni took to social media after India won their second-ever T20 World Cup, praising the Men in Blue for their victory. "WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS 2024. My heart rate was up, well done on being calm, having self-belief and doing what u guys did. From all the Indians back home and everywhere in the world a big thank you for bringing the World Cup Home. CONGRATULATIONS..arreeee thanks for the priceless birthday gift."

On the other hand, Jay Shah Honorary Secretary of BCCI tweeted,"I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!"

 The celebration reached new heights, as passengers aboard an Air India plane cheered for India. A viral video captured the moment when passengers on the A350 flight received the news of India’s win 35,000 feet above the ground. A passenger on flight captured the special moment when a flight attendant announced that India had won the World Cup against South Africa. As her announcement came to an end, the video shows numerous passengers applauding while the flight was illuminated with Tricolour lights. Sharing the clip on Instagram, the user wrote, “Air India celebrating the victory at the world cup at 35000ft on A1591 A350. Big Day for us finally.”

Known for his passion for cricket, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's tweet not only celebrated India's win but also emphasized the significance of expanding cricket matches to new venues. He tweeted, "What a final!!! Congrats, India, and well played, South Africa. Super World Cup... let us have more cricket in the West Indies and USA!!"

And finally,  "Your wishes helped India win- Relive India's epic journey in the T20 World Cup. ... So proud," shared Sushmita Sen on her Instagram Story.
