The catch, which many consider the best of the tournament shifted the momentum in India's favor and played a significant role in securing their victory in the final.

Rohit Sharma, along with Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Yashasvi Jaiswal - all representing Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy - had the opportunity to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on July 5. It was during this meeting that Rohit Sharma shared his light-hearted comment, adding a touch of humor to the occasion.

"After Surya caught the ball, he told me that the ball sat in his hand. Thank goodness it did. Otherwise, I would have sat him out," joked Rohit.

David Miller swung hard on the first ball of the final over, hoping for an explosive start against Hardik Pandya. It took a remarkable effort from Suryakumar Yadav to secure the catch, as he had to first grab it, then toss it up, and finally sprint back from beyond the boundary ropes to complete the catch.

India ultimately triumphed in the final by a mere seven runs, in a match that appeared to be slipping away when South Africa required just 30 runs from 30 balls.

In a show of appreciation, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a prize of Rs 11 crore for Team India. This generous gesture followed the BCCI's announcement of a staggering Rs 125 crore reward for the Indian team, following their second T20 World Cup victory.
