Divya Dwivedi, who is an Associate Professor at IIT Delhi, is in news these days for an interview in which she has claimed that Hindutva will not exist in India in the future. Divya Dwivedi’s controversial statement has sparked a row with many demanding her resignation from as professor of the prestigious institution. Divya Dwivedi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Delhi. She is also a philosopher, Marxist and writer. She has written books on topics like Hinduphobia, philosophy of literature and politics. She is the co-author of Gandhi and Philosophy: On Theological Anti-Politics (Bloomsbury Academic, London: 2019). She is the editor of The Virality of Evil (Rowman & Littlefield, 2022); co-editor of Narratology and Ideology: Negotiating Context, Form and Theory in Postcolonial Texts (Ohio State UP, 2018).

Divya Dwivedi is originally from Prayagraj and her father is a senior advocate at the Supreme Court. Divya Dwivedi’s paternal grandfather, S. N. Dwivedi was a judge at the SC and her maternal grandfather Raj Mangal Pande was a Union minister. Divya has completed her graduation from Lady Shri Ram College, Delhi University and Master's degree from St. Stephen's. After this she did M.Phil from Delhi University and then earned her doctorate degree from IIT Delhi.

​In 2019, Divya Dwivedi had grabbed headlines after she claimed that Hinduism originated in the 20th century. The statement made by 42-year-old Divya left many enraged but she did not take it back.
