'Money Heist 5': Release date, cast, plot, recap, everything you need to know about the Spanish crime thriller

Spanish series ‘Money Heist’ premiered on Netflix in 2017 and became an instant international sensation. The Spanish crime drama presently holds the current record of being the most-watched non-English title on Netflix. The fourth season of Money Heist broke all previous records it set and managed to rake in a remarkable 65 million views. Season 5 will have 10 episodes and will mark the end of the gang’s ongoing robbery at the Bank of Spain. The shooting for the final season of ‘Money Heist’ was officially wrapped up on May 14. As per Netflix, ‘Money Heist 5’ will return in two installments with five episodes each. Part 5: Volume 1 will premiere on September 3, 2021 while Volume 2 will air on December 3, 2021.

Netflix on August 2 released the trailer ‘Money Heist 5’ and it shows an exciting season filled with high-octane drama and unexpected twists. The trailer also features an easter egg. There are various flashbacks, including probably Tokyo with her boyfriend who was killed by cops, Berlin's past with Tatiana, and much more. The gang and The Professor are shown at their most vulnerable state in the roughly two-minute clip. While the group tries to come to terms with Nairobi's death, Lisbon's entrance into the Bank of Spain appears to be a trigger.

In the trailer released on August 2, Netflix also teased that three new characters will be introduced in season five of ‘Money Heist’. The first is Sagasta (essayed by José Manuel Seda), the Commander of the Special Forces of the Spanish Army. The other two new cast members include Patrick Criado and Miguel Angel Silvestre. Patrick who will play Rafael is 24-years-old and also the youngest cast member on ‘Money Heist 5’. 

‘Money Heist 5’ has created a buzz across the world with its latest season as fans are planning a special screening, online watch parties (yes, it's still a thing) and what not but this particular Jaipur-based firm has made its employees super happy with an unexpected gift from their CEO. A company named 'Verve Logic' has declared a holiday on September 3, announcing it as 'Netflix and Chill Holiday' as the show releases on the same day. The CEO of the firm, Abhishek Jain, seeing the online craze and love for the show as a chance to thank his employees for their hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic. He took to social media to announce this news and said, "It is okay to take a break every once in a while."

Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) spent most of ‘Money Heist 4’ illegally detained was brutally interrogated by the ruthless Inspector Sierra (Najwa Nimri) who is all pregnant. Sierra had gone rogue at the end of season 4 and has apprehended The Professor (Alvaro Morte). The group is in the final phases of the heist and has to melt down all the gold and figure out a way to escape the bank. The season ended with Sierra finding the professor’s hideout and holding him at gunpoint. Fans also believe that Gandia is not dead while they’re still hurt by Nairobi’s death.
