Sakshi Excellence Awards: Ram Charan bags best actor for 'Rangasthalam', Pooja Hegde wins best actress

Sakshi Excellence Awards were hosted on Sunday evening. This awards show recognizes talents from fields of social service, education, healthcare, sports, cinema and others. The awards were handed over by Governor Narasimhan and honorary Chief guest YS Bharathi Reddy.

On the movie front, veteran film actor Krishnam Raju was honoured with Lifetime Achievement award. Meanwhile Ram Charan was given the Best Actor Award for Rangasthalam, while Pooja Hegde won Best Actress Award. Nag Ashwin bagged Best Director Award. Mahanti won Best Film Award.

For the uninitiated Rangasthalam was recently in news since it normalized the culture of slapping a woman who is your wife. The debate began after Samatha Akkineni shamed director Sandeep Reddy Vanga of Kabir Singh on Instagram for his comments on 'not feeling emotion' if you can't slap a woman.
