Michael Jackson, dubbed as 'King of Pop' once sent an invitation to meet one of the Indian singers, who refused to meet him. Later, that Indian singer offered him a song in Rajinikanth's movie and he agreed to do it. However, Michael Jackson couldn't sing the song.

The singer who rejected Michael Jackson's invitation is none other than AR Rahman. AR Rahman recently detailed his meeting with Michael Jackson before his death in 2009. In a video by Free Malaysia Today, he can be seen talking to fans at a meet and greet held in Malaysia on Monday, the music composer revealed that the King of Pop almost sang for Shankar’s Rajinikanth, Aishwarya Rai-starrer Enthiran.

In the video, AR Rahman revealed that when he was in Los Angeles, USA, he was introduced to a man who used to manage Michael Jackson and so Rahman asked the man if he could meet Michael Jackson but later rejected his invitation. He said, "I asked if I could meet him. He told me an email will be sent out to me but there was no response for a week. Then, I got nominated for the Oscars (for Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire). Michael’s team emailed me saying he wanted to meet me. I said I don’t want to meet him now. I’ll meet him when I’ve won an Oscar.”

After he won two Oscars for Slumdog Millionaire and felt on ‘top of the world,' he agreed to meet Michael Jackson. AR Rahman said, “I met him at a home in LA the day after I won it. He was very kind, we spoke about music and world peace. He said, why don’t we do the next We Are The World, introduced me to his kids. He even showed me how he dances from the heart.”

At that time he was working on Rajnikanth's Enthiran and so when he came back to India, he told Shankar about his meeting with Michael Jackson. Shankar wondered if he would be on board for Enthiran. AR Rahman said in the video, “Shankar sir asked me if he would sing for the film. I said, wow, will he sing a Tamil song? I asked Michael Jackson and he said, whatever you say, we’ll do together. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be because Michael passed away in June that year. He was sick at that time."

Rajinikanth's Enthiran which also starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, however, turned out to be a blockbuster and its songs were also a hit. Meanwhile, AR Rahman will be composing music for several Bollywood films like Chhava, Lahore 1947, Tere Ishk Mein and Ramayana.
