IMD Weather update: Heavy rainfall predicted in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim; check full list here

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), which issued an orange alert for sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on Saturday's bulletin, predicts "heavy to very heavy rainfall" during the upcoming two days. The IMD issued a warning to residents advising them to stay away from weak structures and to avoid going into areas that are prone to water logging.

Himachal Pradesh: Heavy rain wreaked havoc at many places in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, causing floods and landslides and forcing the closure of over 300 roads, as Monsoon bounced back in the hill state. The local MeT office has issued an orange alert of heavy to very rainfall on Sunday and a yellow warning of heavy rain on Monday.

Delhi: The weather office has predicted a generally cloudy sky for Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle around 36 and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.

There will be heavy rain in West Bengal, Sikkim, and the Sub-Himalayan area, according to an IMD post on X, formerly known as Twitter. Expect 115.6 to 204.4 mm of heavy to very heavy rain on August 12 and 13. 

Similar to this, the IMD issued an orange alert for Uttarakhand on August 12, 15, and 16 with a warning of "heavy to very heavy rainfall."Heavy rain is expected. For Uttarakhand, an orange alert has been issued. On August 12, 15, and 16, expect strong to very heavy rainfall totaling 115.6 to 204.4 mm. Keep informed and protected. In a tweet, IMD mentioned. On Sunday and Monday, IMD has also predicted a isolated extremely heavy rainfall. 

According to the the latest bulletin, Himachal Pradesh will have isolated heavy rainfall through August 14 and Uttarakhand until August 16. On the other hand, Sunday and Monday are expected to have similar weather in Punjab and Haryana. On August 13 and 14, there is a chance of mild to moderate rain across the northwest of Uttar Pradesh, and tomorrow over East Uttar Pradesh.

In the past few days, there has been a lot of rain in Uttarakhand, which has led to major waterlogging and flooding in many districts and disrupted daily life. IMD had previously issued an orange alert for Saturday for Meghalaya, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh.

"Intense rainfall ahead. An orange alert has been issued for Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya. Prepare for heavy to very heavy rainfall ranging from 115.6 to 204.4 mm on 12th August. Stay safe and stay informed!," IMD tweeted.

Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya are likely to experience isolated heavy rainfall activity from August 12 to August 16. Throughout Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram rainfall is expected on August 12th,15th and 16th. 

IMD reports that between August 11 and 12, Gangetic West Bengal experienced heavy to very heavy rainfall, with Shyambati (13 cm), Deocha Barrage (9 cm), and Digha (6 cm) recording amounts of precipitation.
