Despite the economic slowdown of the last half-decade or more, MBA is still a burgeoning field of study. Gaining admission into one of the premier B-schools of the country is still a coveted dream.
While there are several websites which offer guidance to MBA aspirants, none comes to mind as much as Pagalguy.com. PaGaLGuY with its million plus members and a legacy of over 12 years is the top MBA community in India.
PaGaLGuY.com was once wholly online, and only dedicated to MBA. But this is no longer the case. It is now expanding into other verticals of education and will launch a unique app - Prepathon- at the end of June. dna spoke to PaGaLGuY Founder and CEO, Allwin Agnel:
What is the Prepathon app?
Prepathon is a fantastic mobile learning solution for students. Generally people do not study online. We have built a learning product which is innovative and has the key feature of having a coach 24/7 for every student. The ‘Coach’ provides interactive learning and is set to change the learning paradigm by ensuring higher engagement and interest of the users, higher absorption of knowledge and hence higher success.
PaGaLGuY has also developed several other unique features within Prepathon - which makes learning easier, convenient and fun. The app will be launched towards the end of June this year. The app intends to improve performance of aspirants by providing comprehensive course content, solving their queries, motivating them and ensuring dramatically higher course completion rates. It is a complete learning platform for MBA aspirants. It is designed to provide for next generation learning needs.
Is the app meant only for MBA students?
No. As of now, it covers MBA, IBPS, SSC and CGL exams. In the future, we plan to cover over 20 courses under this app.
How does an aspirant download and then access this app?
For the Prepathon app you can just download and install the app, input your telephone number and become a user right away.
What will be the cost of this mobile app?
The mobile app will be downloaded for free and sample courses would be available for users to download and test. To avail all the features, there would be a nominal charge.
PaGaLGuY has expanded beyond MBA into other fields of study
Yes. Presently we have expanded to include 4-5 verticals such as Bank PO, SSC, Engineering and UPSC. Over the next year we plan to cover 20-30 more verticals.
Is there any competition to the Prepathon product?
No, at present we do not see any competition. This is a unique, one-of-its-kind app which is an entirely new concept.
What is the objective behind PaGaLGuY's expanding into other verticals?
We have been dominant in the MBA space for over a decade and felt now was the right time to expand into the newer verticals. Our goal is to build the same level of strength in all the other verticals as well.
How do you think online education/ educational communities will change in the coming years?
Education is the last frontier untouched by technology. I believe mobile based learning and communities will evolve to make learning and communicating much more effective than ever before. There is no question that the biggest disruption in learning will be through the mobile phone.
