JAIPUR: Emphasising the need for more science-based daily newspapers in the country, President APJ Abdul Kalam expressed interest to write a column in a fortnightly science journal published from here.
 
During his one-day visit here on Friday, Kalam praised journal's (Vaigyanik Drishtikone) chief editor Kamal Rathore and editor Tarun K Jain for their consistent efforts to keep the publication alive.
 
Jain said Kalam, on coming to know about the 'English page' in the journal, expressed his desire to write in the fortnightly. The journal has been publishing a series on Kalam, 'Kalam Hamare hero' for sometime and the journals were gifted to him.
 
The President told them about a Chinese daily science newspaper.
 
Kalam talked at length with scientist Suresh Sharma, who has been instrumental in patenting a diabetes remedy from the Kadam tree.
 
The President met Jaipur's oldest man Habib Miya, who is 137 years old.
