Trinamool Congress reshuffle: MP Abhishek Banerjee elevated to national general secretary's post

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee chaired a working Commission meeting and later an organizational meeting at the Trinamool Bhawan on Saturday (June 5). A major organisational reshuffle was announced by the ruling party in West Bengal, where the TMC endorsed the "one person one post" strategy.

Lok Sabha MP from Diamond Harbour, Abhishek Banerjee was elevated to the post of national general secretary, while appointing actor-turned-politician Sayoni Ghosh as the in-charge of the party's youth wing.  Abhishek Banerjee is the nephew of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar was appointed as the president of the party's Mahila Morcha while MP Dola Sen is now the national president of the Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (INTTUC).

Party veteran Purnendu Bose has been made president of the TMC's Farmers' wing - Khet Mazdoor Cell. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh appointed as the party's state general secretary.

During the meeting, veteran TMC leader Partha Chatterjee, addressing the media said that no decision had been taken on those leaders who are willing to return to the party.

The party also announced that it would now expand itself to other states.
