The famous and delicious dessert, Mysore Pak has been named in the list of best street food sweets in the world by Taste Atlas. Mysore Pak is ranked as the 14th best street food in the list and Falooda and Kulfi Falooda are the other Indian desserts that are in the list.

This delectable dessert is not only beloved by Kannadigas but also cherished across Southern India. Its simple yet rich taste is created from just three ingredients: sugar, ghee, and gram flour. Mysore Pak's origins can be traced back to the kitchens of Mysore Palace during the reign of Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV. The credit for its invention goes to the Palace cook, Kakasura Madappa.

If you have a sweet tooth, then you should definitely avail this opportunity to indulge your taste buds with this delicious dessert. And guess what? You can easily make it at home and it only requires a few ingredients.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 pinch of baking soda
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 2 cup ghee
  • 1/2 cup water

Step 1: Heat 1 cup of ghee in a pan over medium temperature. Add the besan to the ghee after it is heated enough, and then roast it for a few minutes. Make sure the besan is sufficiently roasted to eliminate the raw smell.

Step 2: Boil sugar and water until they form a string-like consistency in a separate pan. Add besan to the prepared sugar syrup and whisk vigorously until it thickens. The remaining ghee should be heated before adding the besan mixture. Stir constantly to prevent the formation of lumps. Add cooking soda when the ghee starts to separate and rise up from the sides.

Step 3: Pour into a greased plate after stirring. Spread the mixture out gently, then let it cool. Slice it into the required shapes before it totally sets. Serve immediately after storing in an airtight container.

Serve mysore pak as a festive sweet to your loved ones. Enjoy!
