Status messages as a coffee table book

Lyricist Irshad Kamil, who has won three best lyricist awards this year, has found his poetry and shayari in a unique coffee table book.

Titled Status: Ok, the book contains notes about Kamil’s state of mind that he had posted as status messages in his social networking site over a period of time.

The messages, written in poetry form, got a tremendous response from his friends on the site, who decided to make a coffee table book out of it.

“I used to write random thoughts in shayari format as my status messages. If it was a cloudy day I would write a small poetry on badal or on a sunny day I would write a poem on dhoop. My friends began discussing the meaning of what I had written and got really interested,” says Kamil.

From editing to designing, everything related to the book was taken care of by Kamil’s friends on the social networking site.

“My friends began to wonder what I would do with the writings on my status messages. A friend from Australia suggested putting together everything, then another friend decided to design it and another one decided to edit it. The cover has also been done by a photographer friend from Delhi,” says Kamil.

The book with over 100 status messages along with comments and discussions on each one of them won’t be on sale. Kamil will gift it to his friends and well-wishers as a token of love. “It’s the most expensive book. It comes with the price of love and best wishes,” he ends.
