Maharashtra government has decided to tie up with noted art director Nitin Desai who will train the semi-skilled people and give them placement in various production firms.
Skill development minister Sambhaji Nilengekar Patil, confirmed of the ongoing talks with Desai. “We will soon sign the memorandum of agreement with Mr Desai. He has promised to train the unskilled and semi-skilled people and subsequently give them employment in various film production firms,” said Patil.
Nitin Desai is a well known figure in the Indian film and television industry. He has worked as an art director for Lagaan, Jodhaa Akbar, Devdas etc. He has won the national firm award for the best art direction four times. In 2005, Desai opened his own ND studio in Karjat which is spread over 52 acres.
Deepak Kapoor, principal secretary of skill development said Desai and his academy will train the light men, sound recorders, studio managers etc. “We are keeping the target of training 2000-3000 people each year. Desai will tie up with various film productions houses such as Yash Raj Films where trained people will be absorbed. Desai will give film related training. This sector has got a huge potential that we decided to tap,” said Kapoor .
He added that they are also roping in Indian ad guru Prahlad Kakkar, whose academy will train the technical and various assistants required in the film and television industry and will even give them placements. Kakkar is tying up with renowned film and TV producers like Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor and Subhash Ghai whose productions houses will give employment to the trained sound recorders, technicians and other skilled artists in their firms.
“Bollywood is a very fascinating sector but it is the most unorganised and untapped sector. It has huge potential to generate employment. We have decided to concentrate on the film and television sector," Kapoor further said.
“Our main motto is to generate jobs. People should get the job after they are skilled. We want 100 percent placement. We are trying in these sectors which have huge potentiality to create jobs and change people’s lives,” he added.
