The Nehru Nagar police are checking Mohammad Javed Shaikh’s mobile phone records to find out who he had spoken to after committing the crime.

According to sources, police have also questioned people who worked with Shaikh at Swastik Cable, a cable service firm, to know more about his behavior, and if they had any knowledge about the act.

Shaikh is reportedly not cooperating with the police, and is not revealing the motive behind the crime or details of how he executed it.

Meanwhile, several youngsters, said to be Shaikh’s friends, have been picked up by the Nehru Nagar police for questioning.

Nusrat was allegedly abducted by Shaikh from her locality in Alidada Compound on June 6, after which he is said to have repeatedly raped her.

According to forensic experts from JJ hospital who conducted the post-mortem on Nusrat’s body, she was kept alive for two to three days, and then killed.

It is also being suspected that during this period, Shaikh had an accomplice, who also helped him dispose of the body.

The other important questions in the case — where was Nusrat kept while being raped, where was she killed — are also being probed. It is suspected that the venue of the crime is the shanty at Vatsalatai Nagar, where Nusrat’s body was found.

Residents of the Vatsalatai Nagar locality are being questioned to find out if they had seen Shaikh in their locality on or after June 6, when Nusrat went missing.

Shaikh worked with a cable service provider and was required to make rounds of the locality, which included Vatsalatai Nagar and Alidada Compound.
