My wife and I have two separate health insurance policies taken before marriage. Now we want a single one. Is it possible to combine our policies into a single one? Will we get the same waiting periods for our existing policies in the new one?
- Abhinav Talreja

Since you and your wife have individual health plans, one of you can add the other in their existing health plan, either at the time of renewal or through midterm addition in the policy (This is subject to the terms and conditions laid down by your insurer). For the one who continues with their existing health insurance policy, the current waiting period will be continued, whereas for the other member, fresh waiting period will apply. You can also consider buying a new family floater plan or family individual health insurance, wherein time bound exclusions will apply afresh.

If I am buying a family floater insurance policy for myself, wife and children in Mumbai and for my parents in Pune, can I get coverage in one single policy?
- Ravi Nene

In such a case, it would depend on the coverage offered by your insurer wherein premium is charged basis the location. You are advised to check the policy terms and conditions to get a clear understanding on the same.
