Bigg Boss OTT 3 made a fantastic start, and as promised, yeh season kuch hoga khaas (this season will be something different).
One of the major reasons why this season looks fresher than previous instalments is because of the line-up of participants.

One of the contestants of this season perfectly encapsulates the term 'underdog'. This rapper has seen it all and now he is inside the BB House, trying to present his personality like never before. He's none other than Naezy.

    Who's Naezy?

Born as Naved Shaikh, known by his stage name Naezy, is an underground rapper, who broke into mainstream rap with fellow rapper DIVINE.

    Nazey's troubled childhood

Naezy hails from a lower-middle-class family, from Kurla, Mumbai, and he was brought up in mostly by his mother and aunts, as his father, Shahid Raza, was employed in Dubai. Naezy grew up in a tenement for the impoverished working class called Ram Bachan Chawl.

When teenage Naezy escaped from the police

As Mint Lounge reported, Naezy would regularly prank his fellow students and teachers, get into fights, and cut class to go smoke cigarettes at a railway station nearby. The report further described an incident when Naezy was caught smoking in his school uniform by a policeman. The policeman slapped him and tried to take him to the local police station. As the two waited at a railway crossing, the 13-year-old kneed the policeman in the groin and jumped onto the passing train.

When Naezy decided to change his fate

Naezy soon realised that he wanted to change his fate and didn't want to be a two-prick criminal. He then started channelling his energy into music and would express his pain through rap.

Naezy debuted with a DIY music video Aafat! which he made using an iPad in 2014. Naezy's debut single, Aafat, credited as the genesis track of the gully rap scene, was released in 2014, followed by his collaboration with DIVINE on their breakout 2015 hit, Mere Gully Mein. This song became a breakthrough for DIVINE and Naezy, and they became a hit pair that shaped rap music culture in India.

    Naezy and DIVINE's life inspired...

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar decided to make a film about their lives. The 2019 blockbuster Gully Boy was loosely based on the duo, with Ranveer Singh portraying a character based on Naezy.
