The Sriwijaya Air passenger plane was carrying 62 people from Jakarta to Pontianak in Indonesia when it disappeared from radar soon after take-off.

In a horrifying incident, a Boeing 737 passenger plane in Indonesia disappeared from radar screens four minutes after take-off from Jakarta on Saturday (January 9). Since then, the country's authorities say that they have found the location where they believed the plane crashed into the Java sea.

The Sriwijaya Air passenger plane was carrying 62 passengers on its way to Pontianak in the West Kalimantan province. The investigators and rescue teams deployed since the disappearance found and analysed items believed to be wreckage from the crashed aeroplane.

According to a report by Flightradar24.com, the plane dropped more than 3,000 metres in less than a minute.
