Edward Snowden, who is claimed to be a whistleblower for having exposed US NSA's intelligence is increasingly facing criticism for being a potential double agent working for China.

According to Fox News, the 'heroic' Snowden who was hailed for being working towards the rights of citizens is now being questioned for his real intentions.

Author of the book, The Coming Collapse of China, Gordon Chang believes that there is a strong possibility of Snowden playing victim to US while working as an agent to China.

Chang pointed out that his decision of fleeing to Hong Kong despite its extradition agreement with US and co-operation policies hints to the only reason him not being jailed is Beijing.

According to the report, the timing of Snowden's revelations about US surveillance programmes is also suspicious as he disclosed the information prior to the US-China summit where US was going to address China against its attempts at attacking US servers.

Chang further said that Snowden's presence in Hong Kong and his recent revelations about the NSA snooping Chinese servers puts him at an advantage for doing what he wants as US authorities can't get him when he is in China.

The report said that the kind of data that Snowden had access to is not possible to be taken by him alone and there is a possibility of other agencies involved too.

The federal agencies in Hawaii is where Snowden is believed to have worked earlier and there is a possibility of his access to the classified information originating from these agencies where the primary surveillance of China is carried out.

Attorney General Eric Holder said that the revelations made by Snowden pose a threat to the security of citizens living in America as well as those in allied nations.

President of the Council on Foreign Relations, Richard Haass, said that using the word 'whistleblower' for Snowden is not justified as a whistleblower is a person who reveals wrongdoing, corruption, illegal activity which is not applicable to Snowden, the report added.
