Lenovo Phab 2 Pro release date gets pushed to November

Earlier this year, Lenovo announced a collaboration with Google to bring the first consumer mobile device with Project Tango at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The device is called the Phab 2 Pro and was previously slated to be available by September of this year, carrying a $499 (Approx 33,000) price tag. 

In a recent turn of events, the Phab 2 Pro will now reportedly be launching in November of this year.

The US Lenovo page for the smartphone which states the availability of the device has changed from ‘Coming This Summer’ to ‘Coming This Fall’. This could also mean that consumers could potentially have to wait until December to get their hands on the Tango-enabled smartphone

Tango technology add augmented reality to devices like smartphones and work similar to a scaled-down version of Microsoft’s HoloLens. 

Clay Bavor, Google's head of VR has told Cnet that the device is now scheduled to be released in November.

If no changes have been made, the Phab 2 Pro will come with a 6.4-inch QHD screen powered by a 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 652 chipset. Other key features will include a fingerprint scanner, 4,050mAh battery, Dolby Atmos 5.1 sound recording and an 8MP front camera. Though the 16-megapixel camera (with Tango) is what will rope most consumer.

The 16-megapixel camera comes with a wide-angle camera and special depth-sensing unit in order to support Tango. With all these components, the camera can map out an area, add augmented objects and track objects in the real word.
