Indian football captain was given a 'guard of honour' ahead of the Intercontinental Cup match between India and Kenya on Monday. This is Chhetri's 100th international match. He has become only the second Indian to play international matches after Bhaichung Bhutia.
The Indian captain was given a hero's welcome at the Mumbai Football Arena which was full of fans after Chhetri's emotional plea couple of days ago. Chhetri had posted an emotional video after the match against Chinese Taipei urging fans to come and support the team.
In the wake of Chhetri's impassioned plea, tickets for the game were sold out.
