IITians are redefining the entrepreneurial landscape, in the dynamic world of startups and in the esteemed classrooms of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT). IIT graduates, known for their technical prowess and innovative thinking, are leading businesses in diverse sectors, including technology, healthcare, education, finance, and travel. One such IIT graduate is now running a company that is worth more than Rs 6000 crore.

He left his job as a software engineer in France to enter the business world with his partner. The duo now runs a successful company that has millions of users from around the globe. The IIT graduate that we are talking about is Rajnish Kumar. He is a co-founder of Ixigo, where he holds the title of Group Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO). He co-founded the Gurugram-based travel company with Aloke Bajpai in 2007.

After graduating from IIT Kanpur with a bachelor's degree in computer science and engineering in 2001, Rajnish Kumar worked as an intern at ETH Zurich. He is skilled in blending technology and business to create solutions that leverage technology to simplify users' lives and solve problems in the real world. In 2003, he started working for Amadeus SAS in France as a technical leader after joining as a software engineer.

Ixigo routinely placed in the top 10 downloaded travel apps worldwide while being run by Rajnish. It maintained its ranking as the eighth-fastest-growing over-the-air app in 2022. As a co-founder of the company, he is involved in many different aspects of the business, such as research and AI efforts, product and growth marketing, new product development, and hiring top people from across the world.

Shares of Le Travenues Technology, the parent company of ixigo, soared on June 18, closing at 78% above its issue price of Rs 93. This surge catapulted the company's market value to Rs 6,275.87 crore.

Venture financiers had their reservations at first, but founders Bajpai and Kumar persisted. After coming back from Europe, Bajpai and Kumar joined forces to start ixigo.

Rajnish Kumar's path from a small apartment in Gurugram to his co-founding of Ixigo is proof of the ability to build extraordinary things with passion, ingenuity, and willpower. Businesses all throughout the nation are inspired by Ixigo's resilience and dedication to developing cutting-edge technologies for the tourism sector. With an IPO on the horizon, the future looks even brighter for Rajnish Kumar and Ixigo, as they continue to shape the future of travel tech in India.
