Mumbai’s Altamount Road is one of the most posh and expensive areas to own a property in India. Dubbed as the Billionaire’s Row, it has Mumbai’s most expensive houses including Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia. Another house on the road is Cyrus Poonawalla’s home Lincoln House.

Billionaire Cyrus Poonawalla and his family reside in a massive mansion called the Lincoln House located near Mukesh Ambani’s Antilia. Both Antilia and Lincoln House are located in Mumbai’s Altamount Road, the real estate haven of the city.

Cyrus Poonwalla is the chairman and managing director of the Cyrus Poonawalla Group, which owns the Serum Institute of India, the largest vaccine manufacturer in the world which developed the Covid-19 vaccine, Covishield, supplied across the world.

The Lincoln House is a lavish bungalow that has history that dates back to the British Empire in India, located in the Beach Candy area of Mumbai. The mansion is spread across 50,000 sq feet, and is located at 78, Bhulabhai Desai Road.

Lincoln House was designed by British architect Claude Batley in 1933, originally built for the Maharaja of Wankaner, HH Sir Amarsinhji Banesinhji and his son Pratapsinhji Jhala. The mansion, for years, was also leased to the US government and was the Consulate General of the United States in Mumbai.

In September 2015, Cyrus Poonawalla bought the Lincoln House in an action. The house was sold to the billionaire for a whopping Rs 750 crore. This was considered to be the most expensive residential purchase in India.

However, this house has been a subject of controversy due to the deal made with the US government. The property was supposed to be sold seven years ago by the US government and there was an issue of transfer of ownership from the Maharashtra government.

Cyrus Poonawalla, the vaccine billionaire of India, has a whopping net worth of Rs 1.72 lakh crore.
